French Angoras are characterized by a longer body and short haired face, feet, and ears.
They have a higher percentage of guard hair which makes the colors appear to be more intense
and gives an even fluffy loft to a garment. Their average weight is 8 1/2 lbs.
Giant Angoras are the largest Angora breed.
They produce a great deal of relatively matt free wool with a very low percentage of guard hair.
The Giant is generally sheared, rather than hand plucked and comes in white only, unless crossbred. Their average weight is 10 lbs.
Satin Angoras are very similar to the French Angoras in type and characteristics .
Their unique feature is their beautiful lustrous wool!
It has an enormous depth of color and shine only matched by silk! Their average weight is 8 1/2 lbs..
German Angoras are another wonderful breed.
They are not ARBA recognized for show, but make wonderful pets and are super wool producers.
They are similar in appearance to the English, but have a better temperaments and better wool production.
Their weights vary from 7 pounds on up to 11 or so. They are available in all colors.
English Angoras are the smallest of the ARBA recognized Angora breeds.
Easily identified by the heavy amounts of wool furnishings on the face, feet, and ears, it is popular for its charming appearance and personality.
The English produce a silky textured wool with a pastel coloring. Their average weight is 6 1/2 lbs..
