Medusa's Place
SPECIAL THOUGHTS

This page, is a very special place for me, I know that by now you are asking... what is so special about this page? It doesn't have cool graphics, no frames no background. Well, -the contents,- they have a very deep meaning for me, and I hope that you will have it too as soon as you finish reading this page. They express my sentiments exactly, and my way of thinking of each and every one of my dear friends that I have found during my time on Fido_Net and Internet. With this also, I want to say, that all of you (and you know who you are!) are very special to me, and I look forward for many more years of wonderful friendship.

  • A SMILE

A smile costs nothing, but it creates much.
    It enriches those who receive
    without impoverishing those who give.
    It happens in a flash,
and the memory of it sometimes lasts forever.

None are so rich that they can get along without it,
and none are so poor but are richer for a smile.

It creates happiness in the home,
    fosters goodwill in a business,
and is the countersign of friends.

It is rest to the weary,
    daylight to the discouraged,
    sunshine to the sad,
and nature's best antidote for trouble.

It cannot be bought, begged, borrowed or stolen,
for it is something that is no earthly good to anybody
    till it is given away.

    And if it ever happens
that some people should be too tired to give you a smile,
why not leave one of yours?
For nobody needs a smile so much
as those who have none left to give.

    BLESS MY 'PUTER

Every night I lie in bed
This little prayer inside my head

God bless my mom and dad
    and bless my children
and take care of my husband
he brings me so much joy...

God there's just one more thing
I wish that you would do
if you don't mind my asking
to just bless my puter too??

Now I know that it's not normal
    to bless a small machine
    but listen just a second
    and I'll try to explain...

You see, that little metal box
holds more than odds and ends.
    inside those small components
    rest a hundred loving friends.

Some its true I've never seen
    and most I've never met
    we've never shaken hands or
    ever truly hugged, and yet..

I know for sure they love me
    by the kindnesses they give
and this little scrap of metal
is how I get to where they live

By faith is how I know them
much the same as I know you.
I share in life it brings them
so if its ok with you..

    Just take an extra minute
    from your duties up above..
to bless this little hunk of steel
thats filled with so much love.

So God, Please Bless My Puter..

    Amen.....

    My Online Penpals

Some free time, what do I do?
Check the 'puter and see if I heard from you.

I used to go and get the mail
But to get those bills can make you wail.

Now online mail is always fun
To get a joke or greeting from someone.

And you know that on the other end
    Is your newfound friend.

You had a hard day and need to share
Here's a friend who will listen and care.

And to this friend you must let know
That you are there for them also.

Most of our penpals are far away
But their kind way can make our day.

So many secrets we can tell
And know they will be kept very well.

And isn't it kind of warm feeling inside
To know to this person anything you can confide.

Isn't it a strange kind of bond we form
It isn't exactly like the "norm"
But where is it written, face to face we have to be
For you to be a very good friend to me.

So you see that little joke, or just a note, or even just a
    simple "Hi"
Could be like a ray of sunshine from the sky.

To my penpals , this is dedicated to you
For all the smiles you have brought to me.

And the times you took time to listen to my tales of woe
May our friendships continue to grow.

    Friendship

Friendship is a strange thing ...
we find ourselves telling each other the deepest details of our lives ...
things we don't even share with the families who raised us.
But what is a friend? A confidant? a lover? a shoulder to cry on? an ear to listen? a heart to feel?

A friend is all of these things and more. No matter where we met, no matter how long we've been together ...
    I call you friend.
A word so small, yet so large in feeling, a word filled with emotion,
    a word overflowing with love.

Truly great things come in small packages.
Once the package of friendship has been opened,
    it can never be closed.
It is a constant book always waiting... waiting to be ready... and enjoyed.

We may have our disagreements ...
we may have our disappointments...we may argue ...
we may concern one another ... friendship is a unique bond that lasts through all tribulations.

A part of each of us goes into our friendships ... our humor ...
our experiences ... our tears. Friendships are foundations ...
    necessary for life.
Friends ... you and me ...
You brought another friend and then there were three ...
We started our group...our circle of friends ...
There is no beginning... there is no end.

Even though I don't speak to you all everyday ...
or even as often as I would like to ...
You have all crossed my path of life in one way or another...
some of you I've only bumped into ... some have walked a while with me ...
and some of you will continue to walk with me ...
but don't ever think for a second that since we aren't in constant contact ...
that I don't think of you at all ...
because if it wasn't for coming across all of you ... who knows?
I would be a completely different person ... and ... well ... I'm happy with how I've turned out so far. Thank you.

    You Are Worthy

Do not undermine your worth by comparing yourself with others.
It is because we are different that each of us is special.
Do not set your goals by what other people deem important.
Only you know what is best for you.

Do not take for granted the things closest to your heart.
Cling to them as you would your life,

for without them, life is meaningless.
Do not let your life slip through your fingers
By living in the past nor for the future.

By living your life one day at a time,
You live all the days of your life.
Do not give up when you still have something to give.
Nothing is really over until the moment you stop trying.
It is a fragile thread that binds us to each other.

Do not be afraid to encounter risks.
It is by taking chances that we learn how to be brave.
Do not shut love out of your life by saying it is impossible to find.
    The quickest way to receive love is to give love;
    The fastest way to lose love is too hold it too tightly;

In addition, the best way to keep love is to give it wings.
    Do not dismiss your dreams.
    To be without dreams is to be without hope;
To be without hope is to be without purpose.

Do not run through life so fast that you forget
not only where you have been, but also where you are going.
    Life is not a race,
But a journey to be savored each step of the way.

    I Have Learned

*I've learned that no matter how much I care, some people just don't care back.

*I've learned that it takes years to build up trust, and only seconds to destroy it.

*I've learned that it's not what you have in your life, but who you have in your life that counts.

*I've learned that you can get by on charm for about 15 minutes. After that, you'd better know something.

*I've learned that you shouldn't compare yourself to the best others can do, but to the best you can do.

*I've learned that it's not what happens to people that's important. It's what they do about it.

*I've learned that you can do something in an instant that will give you a heartache for life.

*I've learned that it's taking me a long time to become the person I want to be.

*I've learned that it's alot easier to react than it is to think.

*I've learned that you can keep going long after you think you can't.

*I've learned that we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.

*I've learned that either you control your attitude or it controls you.

*I've learned that regardless of how hot and steamy a relationship is at first, the passion fades and there had better be something else to take its place.

*I've learned that heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.

*I've learned that learning to forgive takes practice.

*I've learned that there are people who love you dearly, but just don't know how to show it.

*I've learned that money is a lousy way of keeping score.

*I've learned that sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you're down will be the ones to help you get back up.

*I've learned that true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance. Same goes for true love.

*I've learned that maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had and what you've learned from them and less to do with how many you've celebrated.

*I've learned that no matter how good a friend someone is, they're going to hurt you every once in a while and you must forgive them for that.

*I've learned that no matter how bad your heart is broken the world doesn't stop for your grief.

*I've learned that our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become.

*I've learned that we don't have to change friends if we understand that friends change.

*I've learned that you shouldn't be so eager to find out a secret. It could change your life forever.

*I've learned that two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different.

*I've learned that there are many ways of falling and staying in love.

*I've learned that no matter the consequences, those who are honest with themselves, get farther in life.

*I've learned that many things can be powered by the mind, the trick is self-control.

*I've learned that no matter how many friends you have, if you are their pillar, you will feel lonely and lost at the times you need them most.

*I've learned that your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people who don't even know you.

*I've learned that even when you think you have no more to give, when a friend cries out to you, you will find the strength to help.

*I've learned that writing, as well as talking, can ease emotional pains.

*I've learned that credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being.

*I've learned that the people you care most about in life are taken from you too soon.

*I've learned that you cannot make someone love you. All you can do is be someone who can be loved. The rest is up to them.

    The Trouble Tree

The carpenter I hired to help me restore an old
farmhouse had just finished a rough first day on the job.
A flat tire made him lose an hour of work, his electric saw
quit and now his ancient pickup truck refused to start.
While I drove him home, he sat in stony silence. On
arriving, he invited me in to meet his family. As we walked
toward the front door, he paused briefly at a small tree,
touching the tips of the branches with both hands.

When opening the door, he underwent an amazing
transformation. His tanned face was wreathed in smiles and
he hugged his two small children and gave his wife a kiss.
Afterward he walked me to the car. We passed the tree and my
curiosity got the better of me.
I asked him about what I had seen him do earlier.

"Oh, that's my trouble tree," he replied. "I know I
can't help having troubles on the job, but one thing for
sure, troubles don't belong in the house with my wife and
the children. So I just hang them up on the tree every night
when I come home. Then in the morning I pick them up again.

"Funny thing is," he smiled, "when I come out in the
morning to pick 'em up, there ain't nearly as many as I
remember hanging up the night before."
