Due Date: September 30, 2000

I am accepting submissions for a collection of essays, stories and poems by women who have lost a loved one to violence. The concept of the book is for women to express their stories, thoughts, loss and pain of losing a loved one to violence. This is an opportunity for women to share their pain and to help society see how we suffer and that we don't have to suffer silently. We have a voice and we need to be heard that the pain is real.

I am self-publishing the anthology titled Waking To Tears. I am a published writer and poet. I am also a survivor. At the age of twelve I witnessed the accidental shooting death of my father. This year, my mother was bludgeoned to death by my stepfather who then shot himself to death. As a mother, I have tried to explain this to my children. As an adult I have tried to understand the senseless act of violence. The only comfort I have found is talking with other survivors who have lived similar experiences and feel the devastating loss of a loved one.

I have more on my personal story at my site.
