Hi! I'm a happily married woman, mother of 3, grandmother of 3, 2 granddaughters and 1 grandson(so far). I'm 51 years of age. We've been married for 33 years. One of the most important part of our marriage I think is that we make time for each other. Even just little things.....I'm a romantic at heart.
I'm learning computers as I go along. I love working with homepages and making Outlook Express Stationery.

I had polio as an infant. I guess you would say "Handicapped", or "Physically Challenged". I contacted Polio in 1956, shortly after I was born. I did wear a leg brace on one leg, and my other leg is also dimished in muscles. But having polio and a brace has never stopped me! LOL I was born and raised on a farm, my mother, (a smart woman) NEVER stopped me from doing what other children did. As a matter of fact, I did more than most other kids could do, climb trees, make tree houses, horseback ride, (with saddle and bareback), fishing, hiking, swimming, etc... There were a few things I could not do, like bike riding....can't think of any other things at the moment, but you get the idea. I broke my brace more times than I can count as I was growing up. My orthopedic Dr. would laugh and ask me if I fell out of another tree or off the horse this time. LOL My childhood was great. My mother had to fight the school district back then to let me in school, as she was fighting them, I was fighting the kids. I wanted to be equal to them, and in my tough nut mind I had to fight for that right. So I DID! I was a pretty tough kid, no one was going to tell me I could not do something. I participated in everything they did, trampoline's, gym class, nature hikes, etc...Got in a few fisticuffs too, and I was a tiny little thing, I'm still only 5' tall. The kids finally realized that I was nothing different than them, they had accepted me. When I was 18, I got married to a great guy, (tall too 6'1"). We had 3 kids together, each one born by c-section, but born by ME! What an accomplishment that was to me. Now as I have hit my 40's, I find out that the Polio virus is not within me, but it is still attacking me! The muscles that I had left after Polio stripped me, are becoming over worked. I find that I can not walk as good, it is painful. I took a fall in June 2001, and broke my hip. I am now in a wheel chair, but still getting around good. Not much can get me down. Now thanks to the internet, I find that I am not alone in this. I have Post Polio Syndrome. It's not in my head, it's not aging, it's that darn Polio fighting me again! I'm lucky though, there are so many polio victims out there that were not as fortunate as me, I can walk, I've had kids, I'm a grandma, so many blessings! But...I'm not giving up the fight! One great thing about the internet, is you can go to chats and people there don't discriminate or treat a person differently no matter what. They see the person as they are inside, not as they are physically. I hope the information you can find on my pages help you to understand Post Polio Syndrome, or to FIGHT it! The more knowledge the better, the doctors up here in my community don't know very much about it, but I will be helping them learn about it! Please go Here for some helpful links. I will be adding more links as I find them, if you have any helpful links, please email me them so I can visit them and add them to my page. Thanks for visiting!
