God had a wonderful gift to
give to us. He had promised to send a Savior. God chose Mary, a young Jewish woman, to be
the mother of His son.
God sent an angel to tell
Mary that she would have a baby. God told Mary to name the baby, Jesus.
Mary was supposed to marry a
man named Joseph. When she told him she was going to have a baby, he was upset.

God sent an angel to Joseph while he slept.
The angel told him that God had chosen Mary to have Jesus. He told Joseph to marry her and
name the baby Jesus.
Shortly before the baby was
to be born, Mary and Joseph had to leave their home and travel to Bethlehem.
The people had been ordered
to visit the city of their birth in order to be counted.
When Mary and Joseph got to
Bethlehem, they looked for a place to stay. There were many people visiting Bethlehem.
They could find no rooms to
rent. When Baby Jesus was born, Mary wrapped him in cloth and placed him in a manger.
Out in the hills around Bethlehem, there
were shepherds watching their sheep. Suddenly, an angel appeared before them. They were
very afraid. But the angel told them not to be afraid, for the angel had great news to
tell.
The Angel told them that God
had sent a Savior. The angel told them where they could find the Baby. More angels
appeared and they all sang together, praising God.
The shepherds left their
sheep and hurried to the place where the angel told them they would find the Baby Jesus.

When they saw the baby, they
went out to tell others what had happened. The shepherds praised God for what they had
seen.
Later, wise men came to
visit the Baby. They brought gifts fit for a king. They had followed a bright star in the
heavens.
They believed the star was a
sign that a great king had been born. The star led them to Jesus. They worshipped Jesus
and gave Him their gifts.
