Cumberland Co. Research

As I researched my own family, I picked up quite a bit of information on other families, many of whom came from Cumberland Co. I do not have enough server space to include everything I have on even my own Culloms and Worths, but will be glad to share what I have on these families with anyone who is interested. Just send me email (from my home page) and I'll see if I have anything to help you. I have collected records (some more, some less) relating to the following families from Cumberland Co.:

Woodward
Mitchell
Whaley
Hall
Worth
McNeill
Elliott
Hodges
Erambert
Cullom
McKethan
Geddie
McPhail
McLeran

If you're interested in events relating to Sherman's march through Cumberland Co., you might like to read the two accounts written by Cornelia Murphey Woodward, a teenaged daughter of Barzillai Gardner Worth who was living near Puppy Creek (then in Cumberland Co, now in Hoke Co.) when Sherman's army passed through. "The Fidelity of Lewis" was written years later, but the letter to Cousin Martha H. "Pattie" Aiken as published in A Goodly Heritage by my great-aunt Emma Woodward MacMillan was written just after Sherman's army had moved on.
