This cute little teddie bear is from Judy Ribbings. A gift for the baby and I. Isn't
he a doll? Please do not take this bear unless you have my written and Judy's written
permission. After all it is a gift and was made just for us. Thanks for understanding.
We are very excited about our
littlest angel. Between Vince and I this is baby number six. Over the years I have been
excited about each one, but I think that I have reached the age and maturity in life that
this bumkin has a special exciting fascination for me.
Vince had the honor bestowed upon him in picking out the baby's name. Of which we have been
told is a boy. So far he has picked out the name, Matthew. Of course at first I resisted,
but I must admit that it is starting to grow on me. Now all we need is a middle name. I am
due to have another ultrasound, my third one I might add, and I am going to have them peek
again, just to make sure. With a family this big it always pays to know, especially since
I gave absolutely everything away after Zachery.
My pregnancy
As with my last
pregnancy, I have a platelet disease called, ITP, Immune Thrombocytopenia Purpura, is also
known as Idiopathic Thrombocytopenia Purpura. My blood platelets basically attack each
other. There are some risks with pregnancy, such as that my platelets could attack the
babies. So far so good.
Here is a web site that can give you more information and lots of other links.
About ITP
We are currently looking into
this more in detail because there are some very interesting considerations. First upon the
discovery a few weeks ago that Amanda -my oldest- also has Schizencephaly-I will add links
about that one soon.- there is the wonder if this of course is something that I have had
all along, even when I was pregnant with her. Of course we are waiting for medical
records, and then that may not answer anything. But this is a real refreshing thing for me
being involved in the discussions between my doctors and my daughters. It kind of
takes the
edge off of having this. I know that sounds crazy, but I love researching medical things,
so it gives me something to do besides worry.
My Ultrasounds
My first ultrasound was done 2
months ago at Group Health here in Olympia. We found out that my due date was June
22,1998. What a surprise to find out I was about a month farther than we thought. We also
told the technician we wanted to know the sex of the baby. A BOY! This ultrasound was just
the basics. We got pictures that unfortunately just wouldn't scan. My second one was about
2 weeks ago up at the University of Washington. This one was a level three ultrasound,
which is basically more detail. It is so neat, you can really see details alot better. Wow
what detail, we were checking to make sure that the baby didn't have blood clots on the
brain. We also checked out everything else, all there and looks good.
Well did the 3rd ultra sound yesterday, April 20th. I got 2 scans. One says it is a boy
but am choosing not to but it up because of its detail, but here is the other one.
We had several ultrasounds and they determined without a 100% of course that Matthew did not have any blood clots. Which was great. My blood platelets are actually doing much better this pregnancy
Matthew Kirchoff
My sweet little boy! Matthew Brent was born on June 26th. He weighted 7pds. What a wonderful power pack this little guy is! I chose to have an epidural it took two tries to get it in but finally... WOW. My labor was induced so we chose the birthday, I hate being induced it makes me nuts, LOL. But I had a great surprise (in the beginning was very mad at my dr. LOL) and he walks in and says why don't we go ahead and break your water... I looked right at him and said Thankyou God I love you. I knew my labor was gonna be quick then. LOL. Of course my Dr. figured by the early evening I would have him. HA HA HA.... Well just after he broke my water he headed on his way and Vince went for a break... When he came back I had this sixth sense that the contractions, the broken water bag, and the pectin were doing their job. LOL, I told Vince I was going to need something anything, Mind you this is my fifth child. So we discussed it and then he said Dena needs something for pain what are our options... In the end I said take the pain away ALL AWAY... LOL it was getting bad there, I have the worst back pain imaginable. So they came in to give me the epidural, OWEIE!! I am such a baby.. A contraction would come and I wanted to rip out someone's eyeballs I said this isn't doing anything. So he decided that he would do it again, asking me do you feel this do you feel that, Made him and the Dr. laugh when I said Feel What???, Oh what a relief. Well the show is on by the time he got that stupid thing in there. My dr is ready. Vin is relieved I am not breaking his hands anymore. LOL Well he says push, Ha ha ha... My dr. really changed his attitude and became this fun loving and hilarious dr. I was laughing at him so heard and my whole room was laughing that I couldn't breath right, couldn't push hardly felt the push... LOL He says push, and then something funny don't remember what now but I stopped breathing and said I can't your making me laugh. LOL It was an turning point for me when through my laughter realized that this Dr. whom I thought had the WORST bedside manner was actually the best Dr. I had ever had. During my pushing the most wondrous feeling I ever had experienced was feeling my little angel coming down the birth canal. Moving his head back and forth and down. I just keep commenting about how awesome that was to have the pain gone enough to actually feel the joy and beauty of birth. If I would have known this 4 kids ago I would of had an epidural every time. ROFL...
It was the best feeling in the world to give my husband the greatest gift a wife can... to be able to finally see one of his children being born. (he missed his girls and zach was an emergency c-section) It is a memory I will hold close in my heart forever!
Well now I get to start the new page the life of Matthew Brent!
Check back often
