A Crant Story
Our Crant family lives in Elmsdale, Hants Co. NS, My name is Bill , my wife's name is Betty nee Stephen's of Grand Lake, NS and we have an 10 year old son Stephen. My major interest are Computers, Graphics, Genealogy, fly fishing and collecting Hockey Cards. You can find a little more about our heritage by going here.
The Crant name originated in the Hermitage district of, Newfoundland circa 1800. Many came as "pauper-apprentices" to Robert Newman and Company. It is a truly unique name to Newfoundland. Through out the years several pockets of Crants have migrated throughout the western Hemisphere. Notably, Nova Scotia, Ft. Myers, Fl., Inverness, Scotland and of course Newfoundland. Tour the family through the years back to when they had the nerve to call us Grant. when actually the surname is a variation of an old English West Country surname CURRANT, particulary in Hampshire.

My father "Jack" was born here and his father and mother "Billie Joe" and "Gen" spent a large portion of their life here after moving here from Great Jervis (West), in 1907 before coming to Nova Scotia in 1954, find old friends, relatives and make new friends.
See the St. Alban's Page where it references the early Crants and Wilcott's as early settlers from Great Jervis and Swanger's Cove, Newfoundland.
