Splotch Heckert

      Splotch Heckert
      1994--October 18th, 1997

Splotch passed away in October, but here is her webpage as we've left it, from a little bit before her death. Feel free to visit her memorial also.

While not part of the Dani Clan, biologically speaking, Splotch is as close a friend as there can get. She originally lived with Missy and Pookie, and is owned by Anneliese Heckert. She is the dearest thing there ever was, she has never been agressive at all towards anyone or anything. She's a genuinely good-natured, accepting gerbil. She is a pied agouti golden, and the best darn pied agouti golden there ever was = )

Up until August, she lived with Alpha, one of Missy and Pookie's daughters. But when Alpha was found dead, mysteriously, one morning beneath the ladder to their cage (it is believe she may have been hit by it when it fell), she was left alone again. If Phoebe and Ciaran ever produce any offspring, Splotch will be one of the first to receive a new cagemate.

Splotch and Alpha shared many fond memories

We believe Splotch to be around 3 years old, but we can't be sure. She was an adult when purchesed in September of '95, though, so she is at the very least around two and a half, and still going strong. I hope Splotch lasts a very long time, because she deserves to.

      It's a bird, it's a plane, it's . . . a gerbil??

Splotch has many hidden talents, though you'd never guess it from looking at her. One of which is flying = ) Otherwise she mostly sleeps, or explores the second floor of her cage. Her cage setup (at the moment) is very awesome. It's two floors, and instead of using the "killer ladder" to get her to the second floor, we expanded the 2nd level using some metal floors we had from various cages. Then instead of the latter we used tubes as a sort of staircase for her to get to the top level.

      What a setup!

While she enjoys running in and out of her tubes (and flying!) it's obvious she longs for some company after the passing of her dear friend Alpha. We're working on introducing her to a new friend. I hope for her sake it all works out = ) Go to Alpha's memorial page

Tubes don't compare with a friend, though
