Take a Tour!

Come and take a tour of my shelves, the shelves of the Dani Clan! This is where everybody lives and what's in their homes as of 2/22/98.

      The Dani Clan

Here are my wonderful shelves. My mom bought them for me as part of a Christmas present, since I already had tanks and cages on every odd thing you can find, and I was getting more gerbs. So, here it is, my modified home entertainment center! It fits 5 tanks, 1 two story wire cage, and 1 one story cage (it fits, but I don't use it). But as you can see, I STILL have overflow. That's because I can fit more onto that but it'd give me less of a view of the tanks. I try to place them so I can view the "long side" of the tank very easily. I can fit another 10 gal up top and possibly another on the 2nd floor, but I don't want to smoosh everybody. BTW the tank on the chair isn't overflow, that was me spoiling Eve & Reilly rotten out of guilt because they're the only ones on the bottom shelf.

      Pookie & Skittish's cage

Our tour begins with the home of our beloved patriarch and his buddy Skittish. They live in a 2 story wire cage that I got for free from a friend. I put the tubes in because I believe that Pookie's daughter, Alpha, may have been killed by a falling metal ladder. In the first floor they have their fluff nest, a waterbottle, and a tin can. On the 2nd floor there's their food and their wheel. Skittish is nuts, he prefers to climb up the side of the cage rather than use the tubes ;)

      Ben & Monny's tank

I bought this because their old tank, aka the "plastic monstrosity" seemed to have rather bad air circulation. Their spunk improved greatly after moving into here. They have a wooden house, a little wooden toy full of holes, a wheel, a tube, a fooddish, waterbottle, and then their nest.

      Eve & Reilly's tank

Down on the bottom shelf, poor Eve and Reilly reside. It's not terribly dark down there or anything, I just feel bad that they look at my feet all the time! I bought them a nice big nesting box, though they prefer to make their own nest, and they've also got their wheel (cleverly improvised I might add), their waterbottle, food dish, and tubes. It seems to keep them plenty occupied!

      Dana & Fox's tank

Dana and Fox's tank is on the right hand side of the top shelf. It's turned so that the very back of it rests on my window sill (I keep the shade closed all the time). In there they've got their plastic wheel, a jar, waterbottle, used to have a tube til they demolished it, a wood block, and their nest. Their nest is, like most of the nests are, in the righthand corner closest to me.

      Phoebe & Ciaran's tank

Right in the middle of it all is Phoebe and Ciaran's tank. There's not much in there, since Ciaran occupies himself on the wheel and Phoebe digs about in the tube. They used to have a jar but after one of their babies got caught behind it I took it out. Once I'm sure they're finished having litters I'll buy them some more tubes and things of that nature.

      [ not pictured ]

Okay I stupidly forgot to take a pic of Riven & Adia's tank. But they've got a glass jar, wheel, tube, and nice fluffy nest in it. All the gerbils apologize for the unkempt appearance of their homes but I happened to run out of bedding after cleaning out Eve/Reilly and Ben/Monny's tanks so some of them appear a little dirty, but I assure you it's only fuzzies from tissues and cardboard that make it seem that way. I'm going to the store this afternoon = )

      Hope you enjoyed the tour!
