Back to CAVE

My eye disease of choice (well, my gene's choice anyway) is Retinitis Pigmentosa. I lost my peripheral vision at a most inopportune time (like there would ever be a good time). I was in college working on my degree, along with being a foster mother of three lovely kids and taking care of my own baby boy. Losing my peripheral vision left me in a state of temper-tantrums and cold fear. It happened so fast (a matter of months) and it dawned on me people were saying "didn't you see that?" (this is how I see-thanks IRPA) as they were picking me up off the floor more often. This took place when I was twenty seven. I finished college riding on a couple of buses. Eventually after the frontal lobotomy (Just seeing if you were paying attention-I'm kidding here) I replaced some totally bleak thoughts with more positive ones. There is a negative side of the eye disease like it sucks going blind (my new rough patch ) I guess I would rather lose the sense of smell than my eyesight.Truth is my eye disease has forced me to adapt and adapting is a character building thing I am told. I do believe that bad things happen to good people,(and vice/versa) and at the same time I believe that there is a purpose for all things ( is that an oxymoron). Lessons can be learned from our tragedies and calamities. One more thing, it doesn't matter if you fail a thousand times in life (although it makes it easier to learn them lessons early on) Forgive yourself, hug yourself, hug your family (and for heavan's sake ask for forgiveness when you make an a_ _ of yourself. then get on with suceeding with your life.
