My Research on the Leslies

clsbadge.gif (18961 bytes)

My research on the Leslies began only a few short years ago. My paternal grandmother, Ruth Wilcox nee Leslie, is deceased and unfortunately most of the history of her family died with her. I began with just a few hints of info given to me by my father and my two uncles. Since there were five of us interested enough in our ancestry to hire a professional genealogical researcher, we got the initial payment together along with the application. We could give her very little to go on: my great-grandfather's name, my great-great-grandparent's names, and a possible location of burial for my g-g-grandfather.

In January of 1997, I received my first packet of research from the researcher. She sent me quite a bit of information and we were very pleased. Now we had gotten The Fever. Anyone into this stuff will know what I mean!

We contracted the researcher again in May, 1997 and in January of 1998, we received another packet, this time more detailed to the history of some Leslie's in Northern Ireland.

Financial situations restricted us from hiring her again. Since I wanted to continue with my research, I decided to write to a newspaper in Northern Ireland with a large subscription base. My friends on the Internet supplied me with a newspaper's name and I found the address on the Internet. I wrote the editor and he was kind enough to print my letter requesting assistance with finding living relatives of my family. I received a few responses that were very fruitful.

The information on the following pages will give you outlines on information pertaining to the Leslie family I am researching. Please contact me if you have information or would like to exchange information.

Happy Hunting to All!
