GERRARD FAMILY MEDICAL HISTORY

Paul ( Father of Alan Gerrard) : At 1 years old, ( in 1959) diagnosed as having MALABSORBTION CONDITION (CELIAC ).
Was on a diet of Protein milk and mashed bananas for approximately 2-1/2 years. Then was able to tolerate normal foods.

Eileen ( Grandmother to Alan ): In 1960, at age 28, had a pregnancy with a HYDRAMNIUS condition.
The baby was born with PLEURAL ESSUSION and showed symptoms of DOWNS SYNDROME.
Explanation given was that there was an excessive amount of fluid, some of which seeped into the baby's chest cavity,
so that the lungs couldn't expand and he couldn't breathe. The baby died shortly after birth.
In 1962 gave birth to another baby boy - (Neil) with no Malabsorbtion problems.
In 1963 had a miscarriage, gave up and adopted a baby girl.(Kim)

MATERNAL GRANDMOTHER ( Great-Grandmother to Alan ):
Diagnosed as diabetic when aged 67 years old. Controlled by diet and medication.

No information on Maternal Grandfather (divorced).
Maternal Great-Grandfather and Great Uncle were Diabetics, with Great-Grandfather on daily Insulin injections.

NO DISEASES TO REPORT ON FATHER (grandfather to Alan ) OR PATERNAL GRANDPARENTS.
