found your page and really like it. Just some information for you on the Henderson, Nevada Police Department Patches. (I was born and raised there). Henderson had a small patch from 1953-1957. It was brown and grey and just stated Henderson Nevada Police. the second one, of which there are about five versions, (light blue background, square corners and inot the round corners with dark blue background) was used by the Police Department and Fire Department around 1957-1968. The Eagle patch comes from when the new chief, (an Ex-New Mexico State Police Chief) was hired to run the department. He switched the uniforms to a black and grey, similar to the NM State police. This caused him to open a contest with departemnt personnel to develop a patch that would go with the new uniform. Lt. Loren Ogle developed this patch which was standard on the uniform from 1968 to some where in the mid 90"s when the new patches came out. Hope this help fill in some data for yo

Klaus, what a great page. I was looking for a scanned picture of Reno P.D. patch for a power point program and found you site. I was going to send you the info on NLVPD but I see Dave Underwood has already done that. My father retired from the Parks Dep rtment for NLV and I remember him wearing that patch in the 1960s. NDI authorized the star in the early 1980's and the patch was authorized in 1985 to be worn on raid hats and jackets. It is worn now on hat, jackets and some shirts as authorized wear at appropriate functions. I will send you a copy of the Nevada State Police patch circa 1941 when I get a chance. Frank

Hi Klaus, Haven't heard much about you since your visit to the Roek's. The NLV patch you list as your oldest was worn circa 1964. The patch saying "TRAFFIC" was not worn by PD personnel. It was worn by traffic engineering dept. personnel circa 1981. The patch saying "PARKS" was also not worn by PD personnel. It was worn by P rks & Recreation maintenance personnel also circa 1981. Incidentally we did have a patch, actually two, prior to the 1964 patch. It was a LAPD shape, one with a red 5-point star, the second with a gold star. They were worn between 1950 and 1956 approx.

sir, i am a newly hired deputy with eureka county. i truly enjoyed your site and the history involved with it. i could probably get my hands on a ely shoshone tribe police patch if you are interested in it. the police department only employs two officers t one time and to the best of my knowledge have nobody working for them now, nor have they in some period of time. all i would ask in return is an oakland, ca police dept. patch. again, thanks for the wonderful site, it made my graveyard shift go by so mu h faster! if i could be of any assistance to you or your site please do not hesitate to call me at the ECSO!

I was a deputy in Hawthorne 73-81. Moved in 84 when I joined NHP. From 28-77 the base was the World's Largest Naval Ammunition Depot. It was turned over to the Army in 77. Then, in Dec of 80 it became contractor operated as it is today. Oh yeah, I was a M rine stationed there in 65-66. I was also the first district commander for the NHP there starting in Oct 95. I transferred to Reno (swing) in Oct 98. For info on our patches, contact my buddy Dave (Asp) in Hdqtrs. He is also a Sgt. I came on in 84 and we ere wearing the blue/white patch. One on each shoulder as now.We went to the current one I think, in 86? The Mineral Co patches you have are the most recent.They came in about 10-12 yrs ago. Sheriff John Madraso took over for two terms in 82 and he is the one who changed the patch from the round generic one I wore. Should you have questions, get in touch with me, If I cant answer your question/s I can get you in touch with someone who will. I also have ide s on where to get some of the patches you are looking for(ie; Babbitt PD).....John

Nice page with some great old patches. Would like to see some more of our counties listed, Washoe has some good patches. I read some of your guest book, if you have not contacted Pederson from Storey SO do so he's a good guy and he may be able to get you a scan of the VCPD patch . Also looking at your Douglas Patches I think the black & orange was the second patch. My father-n-law was sheriff from 70-74 and he had a Nevada shape then, but he had been a deputy there and I recall pictures with that patch n his uniforms from then. If you want a Reno Ranger patch send me an e-mail I've got a couple of extra used ones.

Hey, your patches showed up on a search for Mineral County web pages (I'm doing some records searching--Clark Co. indexes are on the web, other counties...???) Hawthorne was a place where big dangerous ammo from mortars to Navy big gun stuff was made. As of 1984, I believe it was still in operation. The bottom of Lake Hawthorne is littered with exploded and unexploded ordnance. They used to test-fire ammo over the lake. The north end of Lake Hawthrone is also a lousy place to get your car stuck in the sand/gravel. The slope is pretty steep. Been there, done that, no fun!

I came on your site and had to look at the patches I had during the 20 years I was with DCSO. I am now retired and moved to WA. To help you with the patches a bit drop me and e-mail. The one you have that is dmaged is really the 1st patch. The black a d orange was the 2nd. The 3rd I didn't see but was like the state shape except the background was silver, next was the blue background and the dark blue, almost black was the last of that style. The ones with stars missing and other things were mistakes that were recalled, but never sent back to the maker. The flag patch was added when the one with the ble background was put on and stayed with all the rest of the state shape patches. It was put on the left arm. Thanks for the site, I enjoyed it. Dan

Hey, I really liked your page, I was a Carlin Officer from 95-97 and moved back to Utah. I think that Elko has the first Calrin patch you want hanging in thier hall, they got a pretty big collection, I'm sure you've been there. Chief stokes just quit an went to Idaho so you'll have to update.
