September the 5th 1881
Dear brother as I have bin spaird by
kind providence till this presant time
and are anxious to hear from you one
time more on earth I thought I would
write you a few lines to let you know
that I am still living and injoying
comon health at presant hoating theese
few lines will reach you and family
well I have nothing of in trest to
wright to you for we have the worst
Drouth I ever saw it raind about the
last of June but none sence to doo
much good in this settement they has
bin some raines in places but it seems
to bee a gineral drouth late corn is dryd
up it will hardly make seed it looks
like some people is bound to sufer for
bread I want you to write to me as
as soon as you git this letter and let me
know how you all are dooing in that
Country and let us know weather
there is a drouth in that Country
I would like to send you some of our
religious papers if I thought you would
read them carfuly and compare them
with the teaching of the bible for that
is our creed and confeshion of faith for
we think all humon creds confeshions
of faith and desiplens are in rebelion
against god and his word as I know not
whether you are alive or dead I shall
for bare writing a bout everal
things as I expected to write about
we want to know wheather sister Catherine
Colins is alive yet and I want to
know where she lives and post
ofice and We want to know if
harvell Johnson is still alive
we want them all to write to us as
soon as posible and let us know how
you are all dooing in this world of

Dear Brother all of my Children
is Dead but David and he is living
in ilinoys and heant heard from him
in some time this is the 12 of september
and the drouth is still continuing
and it is believed that corn will
be worth one Dollar from the pile
per bushel and stock has come down
very low wheat is about one Dollar
and twenty five cents let me hera
from you as soon as posible as I am
anxious to hear from you all in that
