The ferry is docked at the wharf in Farewell waiting for passengers and vehicles bound for Fogo Island.

Fogo Island, located along Newfoundland's north coast, is a rocky and picturesque community. After a short ferry crossing and a brief drive the community appears as seen here from the highway.

In spite of the rocky and rugged landscape Fogo Island has areas of lush green vegetation and many scenic vistas of the sea.

The isolated yet vigourous community of Harbour Breton can be found along Newfoundland's southern coast. The two hour drive from the Trans Canada Highway is a constant delight with many rocky mountains in view at all times.

A photographer's delight Salvage can be found on the Eastport peninsula. Even on days of high winds and rough seas the harbour is a tranquil refuge.

Constructed by the people of Gander the Silent Witness monument is dedicated to the men, women and children who perished there in the crash of an American armed services jet.

One of Newfoundland's best kept secrets is this majestic and serene cove in Beachside, just north of Springdale. At certain times of the year whales come into the cove while looking for caplin.

This line of rocky islands leads the way to the sea in picturesque Beachside.

Belleoram is on the south coast of Newfoundland and this view of entering the community is typical of the high rocky mountains in the area.

The high hills and mountains around Belleoram offer a natural and scenic shelter to the harbour and the homes surrounding it.

Another community on the south coast is Hermitage and this view gives some idea of the tranquil beauty of the area.

This passenger-only ferry is leaving Hermitage on its regular schedule to nearby Gaultois, one of many south coast communities without road access.

This photo of Corner Brook, taken in April, '99 from Crow Hill, shows the commercial core of the city and looks off towards the east.

Corner Brook showed its best and its pride when it hosted the 1999 Canada Winter Games. Athletes were housed in these temporary dorms which have since been removed from the site.

The Canada Games Centre shown partially here on the left was the focal point of the games and the celebrations. Flags from the provinces and the territories can be seen in the centre and the dorms are visible on the right.

Another view from Crow Hill shows the Kruger paper mill on the Humber Arm and adjacent to the downtown commercial core.

The ferry Galipoli is shown here arriving in Ramea harbour on its regular run from Burgeo.

During Ramea's Come Home celebrations the outdoor ice rink was converted into an outdoor lounge and concert area. Here a family entertains and delights the afternoon crowd with traditional Newfoundland music.

This street and ocean scene is typical of the views most often seen in Port aux Basques. Houses and businesses are clustered near the sea and evidence of its rich nautical history abound.

Twillingate, a Notre Dame Bay community along the north coast, is a photographer's delight. Its many attractions include a healthy business area, accomodations, restaurants and several boat tours where views of whales and icebergs are often plentiful.
