Why breastfeed? Well, not only is it God's perfect design for feeding your child but it is the single most important thing you can do for your child. Breastfeeding as soon as possible after birth encourages the uterus to contract back to it's original size. Beneficial to mom. It also lessens the chance of hemmorage. Another plus for mom. Breastfeeding can also help mom lose that last little bit of weight from the pregnancy. For that vain side of mom. LOL But back to baby... The colustrum the baby gets at first is FULL of nutrients, antibodies and such. Giving baby the healthiest start! Want more? Breastfed children are generally healthier and more intelligent. How about that one? Upping your child's IQ simply by nursing them! Breastfeeding also creates an unbelievable bond between mother and child. That close contact they get while nursing, irreplacable and induplicable.

Bottle feeders often argue "well, we chose to bottle feed so daddy could participate" Hello? Like daddy can't take care of any of the other gazillion tasks involved in caring for a baby? A daddy, gramma, whoever, bottle feeding a baby simply cannot compare to the relationship and trust and love being built while a mother nurses her child.

And what's with the rush to feed your baby solids? Their tiny tummy's simply are not ready to handle that stuff before 6 months of age. And even then, solid food is not a necessity, as long as you're breastfeeding. Mother's milk is all your baby needs the first year of life. Also, the nutritional value of breastmilk does not diminish simply because the child is one year old. The older child is still benefiting from breastmilk, yes, even at 2! While, I, personally, don't see the need to nurse much beyond 2, I know the child is still getting nutrients.
