Children's Bible Study
(Lesson #2)

"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." Matthew 19:14

In Lesson #1, we learned how the Bible all fits together. In this lesson, we will explore the "Lands of the Bible."

By our Bible studies together, you will learn that God has a plan:

A plan for the nation of Israel
A plan for providing man with forgiveness and eternal life.
A Plan for
YOU!!!

~~~~~~~~~~
Every week you will find a new Bible Study here. These studies are designed for youth ages, 6 - 12.
This is Lesson #2. Have you studied Lesson#1?
What do I need for this Bible Study?
A Bible
A little notebook.
Always BEE prepared for Bible Study by first saying a prayer asking God to help you receive what he is trying to teach you with his word.
One more thing, please e-mail me and let me know that you like our Bible Studies. We would also like to get to know you as we learn about our Heavenly Father together.
Are you ready?
"The Lands of the Bible"
Do you see the red arrow above? This arrow points
to a very special place. This place is now called Israel. It has also been called Canaan and Palestine.
Now, do you see the little dot labeled Ur? This is where
a man named Abraham was called by God. God
told Abraham to take his family and his flocks and go to a place that He would show him. Abraham obeyed God and took his family to Canaan. God promised Abraham that someday this land would belong to him and all of his descendants.
Abraham had a son named Issac and a grandson named
Jacob. They along with the rest of the family lived in Canaan. They were shepherds there. But a great
famine came upon the land and Jacob took his family and they moved to Egypt. They lived in Egypt for a very long time. At first they were shepherds in the land and later they became slaves to the Egyptians. God made these slave descendants of Abraham the nation of Israel and he brought them back to Canaan, the land that he had promised Abraham. (We will read more about this daring escape later!)
God was very good to the people of Israel and he blessed them with many good things just as he had promised. But, the people soon forgot God and began to worship idols. At this time, God allowed the Israelites to be taken captive by the Assyrrians and the Babylonians.
God allowed the Israelites to be captive only for a while and then he brought them back to Canaan. Canaan was now called Palestine. Palestine became very important in God's Big Plan. In the land of Palestine and through the Israelites, God promised to send the Promised Saviour!
Wow! Isn't that amazing. Well, hundreds of years later Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem in Palestine just as God had promised. God kept his promise and he sent the messiah, the Saviour of the world when Jesus Christ was born in a manger almost 2,000 years ago.
After Jesus was crucified on the cross and rose from the dead, he told his followers to go out into the world and tell
EVERYONE the Good News!
The Good News of Jesus Christ was to be shared with the whole world and not just the people of Israel. Jesus, the Saviour came through the Israelites for ALL people and ALL lands.
