Do you like clowns?

Clowns are funny aren't they! Clowns wear masks that are sometimes painted faces. Sometimes the clowns paint their faces happy and sometimes they paint their faces sad. All clowns look a little different!

Do you like the circus? Pretend like you are at the circus! Can you pretend that you are a high-wire artist? How about someone working with the tigers or elephants! Maybe you could be the person selling popcorn! Yum!!!

Clowns do funny things to make us laugh! They wear big floppy clothes and silly shoes.

Did you know that a clown is really a person just like you. The clown has makeup on his face so you won't know who he really is! There is a real person hiding behind the makeup and the silly clothes.

A clown may look happy because his makeup is painted to make him LOOK happy. A clown could really be sad but his makeup would hide his feelings.

Sometimes you might be like a clown and try to hide your feelings. Maybe you have a smile on your face when you are really angry and upset.

Sometimes you can fool other people with a smile when you really are sad. But you can NEVER fool God!!! God always knows EXACTLY what you are thinking all the time. God knows what you really want to do and God knows everything that you will say! How does God know all of these things? Because . . . God made YOU! God loves YOU! God wants you to be honest with your Mom, Dad and friends.

You CAN NOT fool God!

God knows EVERYTHING about me!

A Special Prayer
Dear Jesus. Sometimes I act like a circus clown and I wear a mask on my face that doesn't show my true feelings. I am so happy God that You know EVERYTHING about me and that You made me and love me! Help me God to NEVER try and fool You! I love you! Amen.

Activities:

Make a clown mask with paper plates. Color a really neat clown's face on your plate and then tie strings on the sides! Pretend to be a clown!

Play a game of Hide & Seek! Talk about how you can NEVER hide from God because He always knows where you are!

Wearing your clowns mask, pretend that you are invisible behind your mask. Talk about times when you may have been dishonest when No one was looking! Maybe you thought that you were "getting away" with being dishonest just because no one "caught" you in the act of being disobedient. Talk about how God saw you even when no one else did and how with God's help, you will always try to be honest - even when no one is looking!

Have a living room circus and pretend to be all of the different performers in the circus! Pop some popcorn and HAVE FUN!
