Candy Cane Reindeer

1. figure out how many reindeer you'd like to make and buy packages of large candy canes, eyes (the small moving ones look best), small red pompoms (coordinate so that the nose is larger than the eyes by about 2-3x), gold or silver pipe cleaners. You will need a hot glue gun and glue sticks.
2. With the short bent end of the candy cane facing you, glue each eye in place approximately 1 inch or so above the end of the cane.
3. On the bottom edge of the short side of the cane (not the flat bottom underneath), hot glue the pompom.
4. Bend a pipe cleaner in half, put it on the underside of the bend in the candy cane and bring up around the top once and twist tightly. Bend the "antlers" once or twice at the ends and/or upper middle section and shape as you wish.
In the past I have added bowties to the front of the "male" reindeer, glued on the bottom part of the cane below the face, and have added little bows on the top of the "female" reindeer just in front of the antlers. These look great hanging on a tree or tied onto packages. They can be done in the standard red and white cane, but the multi colored looks very nice as well. Don't eat any part of the cane that you have glued things to. Enjoy! Donell Witty
