Mrs. William W. Lambie, nee Agnes Huyck, entered peacefully into rest Sunday evening at the home
of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. George D. Lambie, Wolcott street, after a long and
most severe illness. She had been confined abed 15 weeks and had suffered much, although ever
receiving the skilled and devoted care of her daughter-in-law who is a registered nurse. Death
to the patient, was a happy release from many weary days of suffering and loved ones though they
deeply mourn the parting can not but say "It is well." Two weeks ago all her children spent a
few days here to be with her.
Agnes Huyck was born in Coeymans, N.Y., July 4, 1861, daughter of Leonard and Antoinette Norris
Huyck. Her mother died and as a small child the subject of this sketch came to Camden, where she
was brought up in the home of her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. C. T. E. Huyck. October 29, 1890 she
became the wife of William W. Lambie of this village, the ceremony being performed by Rev. George
Benaugh. Camden had been her home ever since. Mrs. was a woman of fine personality and cultured
tastes. She well filled the mission of life as a noble wife and mother, a kind neighbor and friend.
Besides her husband she is survived by six children, three daughters and three sons. They are
Jean, wife of Captain W. H. Crosson, U.S.A., Clarendon, VA; Francis, wife of John Birnie, Jr.,
Brooklyn, N.Y.; Doris wife of Henry Herrnkind, Bellmore, Long Island; William J., Brooklyn, N.Y.;
Wallace R. and George D. Lambie of Camden. She also leaves seven grandchildren - Jean, William
and John Crosson; Mary Frances Birnie; Betty Jane, Frances and George Lambie; a sister, Mrs. Alice
Dow of Minneapolis, Minn.
The funeral was attended yesterday afternoon 3:30 o'clock from the home of Mr. and Mrs. George
Lambie, the Rev. Beryle B. Kelly, pastor of the Free Methodist church officiating. Floral tributes,
which were in profusion, attested the love and esteem in which the deceased was held. Interment
was in the family plot in Forest Park Cemetery. Bearers were: Clarence Perin, Howard Herrman,
Leland Scoville, David Robinson, Paul Fauser and George Fauser.
Besides the children there were present, from out of town, Mrs. Lena Whitford of East Florence, Mrs.
John Adams and Miss Mary Dexter of Detroit, Mich.
