Passed Away at His Home at 6:30 Friday Morning -
Complication of Tuberculosis and Heart Trouble Cause of Death -
Mr. Fox Was A Charter Granger.

The life of David J. Fox, who for over 43 years has been a well known and respected citizen of
Camden terminated at his home about 2 miles west of this village Friday morning at 6:30. His
health had been failing since two years ago, when a complication of tuberculosis and heart trouble
set in after an illness of grip. At intervals he had suffered much, but through his natural
progressive and ambitious disposition he kept about most of the time and looked after his farm
affairs until the past season. He was taken worse just a week before his death and took to his
bed.

Mr. Fox was a man of many friends for all who knew him found in his genial sturdy personality
the good qualities of humanity. His death is sincerely mourned throughout the community.

Though born in Boonville March 14, 1841. Mr. Fox two years later moved with his parents to
Osceola. His father was the late Silas Fox and his mother was Marion Miller. Deceased remained
a resident of Osceola until 43 years ago, when he came to this town and located in the Hillsboro
section, where he had since lived. For twenty years he had occupied the farm where he died.
On New Year's day 46 years ago he married Miss Elizabeth Loevenguth of Camden, who now survives.

Mr. Fox was one of the charter members of Camden Grange, and in years gone by has been prominent
and helpful in the order.

Besides his widow he leaves four children to mourn his loss - Mr. W. F. Babcock, Silas W. and
John Fox of Camden and Mrs. Geo. A. Dana of Lincoln, Neb., also four brothers and sisters -
Charles and Lester Fox of Boonville, Mrs. Emma Buck and Mrs. Ransom Spencer of Chester, Pa.

On Saturday his remains were brought to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Babcock on Voorhees ave.,
where at 2:30 Sunday the funeral services were held. Notwithstanding the very inclement weather
which prevailed, the attendance was large. A goodly delegation of the Grangers were present.
Rev. T. C. Given of the Free Methodist church officiated, assisted by F. L. Knapp. Mrs. R. C.
Knapp and Fred P. Barnes sang several favorite hymns of the deceased. The floral tributes were
many and beautiful. The bearers were Grangers, being B. L. Osborn, William J. Park, Hiram and
Herman Curtiss. The remains rest in the receiving vault at Forest Park Cemetery.

Those called here by his death were Charles Fox of Boonville and Clarence Babcock of Hamilton
College.
