CAMDEN -- Hugh Wasson, 91, former town assessor and member of the Oneida County Republican
Committee, died yesterday at the Murdough Nursing Home here after a long illness.
He was born Feb. 9, 1868, in the Town of Amboy, the son of Hugh and Margaret Swanson Wasson.
The family moved to Camden in 1897.
He married the former Martha Anne Minckler on Dec. 28, 1892, in Parish.
Mr. Wasson was a life member in Philanthropic Lodge F&AM.
He was a member of the United Church and served on its board of trustees and was an elder for
several years. He served on the cemetery board for many years and helped Andres Meeker to
develop Forest Park.
Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Mrs. Ralph Peters, Ilion; three sons, Dr. Roy J. Wasson,
Colorado Springs, Colo., Robert H. Wasson, St. Petersburg, Fla., and William J. Wasson, Phoenix,
Ariz.; four grandchildren; one great grandchild.
The fuenral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the B. A. Sanborn And Son Funeral Home, with the Rev.
Ernest W. Bittner, pastor of the United Church, officiating. Burial will be in Forest Park
Cemetery. Friends may cal today 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
