---------------
PASSES AWAY IN DEPERE, WISCONSIN
---------------
Was Formerly Isabelle Lambie, Married in Camden and Lived Here Many Years -- Went to De Pere in 1880 - Mother of Chester G. Wilcox.

The De Pere, Wisconsin, News of March first brings word of the death of Mrs. Isabelle Wilcox which
will be sad news to many of our older inhabitants. It gives an account of her death as follows:

Mrs. Isabelle Wilcox, widow of the late Levi S. Wilcox, died Sunday morning at St. Vincent
hospital and was buried yesterday afternoon at Greenwood cemetery.

Isabelle Lambie was born at Ayrshire, Scotland, April 3, 1825, and came to America with her
parents at the age of 6 years, the family settling in New York. She married Levi S. Wilcox at
Camden, N.Y., in 1846. Mr. and Mrs. Wilcox removed to Michigan the same year, but 6 years later
returned to Camden.

In 1880 they came to De Pere and made their home on the West side. In April, 1896, they
celebrated their golden wedding. Mr. Wilcox died the following September.

About six years ago Mrs. Wilcox fell and broke her left arm and leg, since which time she has been
a helpless cripple. She was given the best care that devoted children could render, and her life
was made as pleasant as possible. Mrs. Wilcox was one of nature's noblewomen. She exemplified in
her life the broadest charity for all. In the relief of the poor and needy she was generous to a
fault, and never hesitated to brave the storm on a mission of mercy. During her long period of
sickness and helplessness she never uttered a word of complaint. She was a member of the
Presbyterian church from a child.

The funeral was held from the residence of Mrs. J. M. Fifield, Green Bay, with interment beside
the body of her husband at Greenwood. Rev. H. A. Talbot officiated. She is survived by four
children: Chester G. Wilcox of De Pere; Mrs. Jennie M. Fifield and John L. Wilcox of Green Bay
and Mrs. D. B. Foster of Fairchild.
