Left Business to Travel For Farm Machinery Company -- Was Expert Judge of Cattle.

James A. Lambie, well known citizen and former business man of Main Street, who has been in a
hospital at Rome five seeks, passed away at 12:45 Monday morning. Mr. Lambie had been in poor
health ever since he had a severe sickness of grip about three years ago, which terminated in a
paralytic shock two years later. For the past year he had been gradually failing, suffering
several poor spells between then and the time of his final illness set in.

Mr. Lambie was born in Camden November 16, 1853, a son of the late John and Jane Richmond Lambie.
The most of his life had been spent in Camden. In 1878 he engaged in the meat market business,
which he conducted for fifteen years and was very successful. His market was located in the
Barnes block, where the A & P store is located. He disposed of his business to his brother,
William W. Lambie, and engaged with the D. M. Osborne Company of Auburn as a traveling salesman,
selling farm machinery and agricultural implements. He was with this company for 8 to 10 years.
Returning to Camden he entered the employ of L. P. Haviland Canning Co., with which he continued
as long as health permitted. Mr. Lambie also dealt in cattle, buying and selling and he was
known as one of the most expert judges of livestock. A friendly, good-natured, jovial fellow,
"Jim" Lambie made a host of friends everywhere he traveled.

In Toronto, Canada, 25 years ago he married Miss Kate Pickering. To them was born a daughter,
Florence, who survives him. She is married and resides in Toronto.

Besides a wide circle of friends he also leaves a sister, Mrs. D. G. Dorrance, and a brother,
William W. Lambie, both of Camden.

The remains were brought here by Undertaker Smith & Scranton, to the home of his brother on
Union Street where the funeral was held yesterday morning at 10 o'clock. The Rev. F. E. Miller,
pastor of the First Presbyterian church, was in charge of the services. Interment followed in
Forest Park cemetery. Bearers were James G. Dorrance, Village President Charles Lane, Charles
Allen, George and Wallace Lambie, H. W. Herrnkind.
