Camden Advance Journal: May 1915

Death of Mrs. J. R. Whaley.

Sad news has been received this week from Harrold, South Dakota, announcing the death in that place of Mrs. J. R. Whaley, who passed away April 27th. No further particulars of her death are received except that it is known that she was ill only a few days.

Mrs. Whaley was a native of Camden, a daughter of the late Richard and Mary Price. Her early life was spent in this town. She moved to South Dakota in 1880, following her marriage to Mr. Whaley. Prior to her marriage she was engaged for a number of years as a teacher in the public schools of this section. She joined the Trinity Episcopal church in this village and was highly esteemed by a wide circle of friends. The many her who knew her are saddened by the news of her death, for truly a kind and loving wife, fond mother and affectionate sister has passed on. Her many noble virtues will long be cherished by friends.

Besides her husband she leaves a daughter, Mrs. Arthur Walker of Rush Lake, Wisconsin; two sons, Franklin of Fair Veiw, Montana, and John of Harrold, S. D.; two brothers Charles Price of Camden; Richard of Chico, Cal.; and two sisters, Mrs. W. O. Tousley of Amboy Center and Mrs. John Marsh of Camden.

Deceased was a sister-in-law of Mr. George Whaley and Mrs. O. A. Manzer of this town.
