Mrs. Myrtle Swanson Dies; Ill for a Year

Mrs. Myrtle N. Swanson died Feb. 17, 1952, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lewis F. Lock,
Second Street, after an illness of about a year.

Mrs. Swanson was born in Cleveland, Nov. 29, 1869, the last of six children born to John H. and
Jane Dodd Rice. She was married in the Methodist Church, Cleveland, by the Rev. John P. Johnson
on Oct. 17, 1894, to Frederick Swanson, Camden. Mr. Swanson died April 13,1940.

After their marriage they lived on the Mexico Road near Camden until Mr. Swanson's death, after
which she came to live with her daughter.

She was a member of the First Methodist Church, and for many years was active in church societies
and taught a Sunday School class.

She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Vinetta M. Manzer, Turin; and Mrs. Lewis Lock, Camden; two
grandchildren, Pvt. Orville A. Manzer, Army, and Mrs. Ernest Leuenberger, Camden; two great-
grandchildren, Ernest and Richard Leuenberger, Camden, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted yesterday at the J. Floyd Smith Funeral Home at 2:30 with the Rev.
Carlton G. Van Ornum officiating, assisted by the Rev. Walter Suits, Newport.

The body was placed in the vault for burial in Forest Park Cemetery in the spring.

Bearers were James L. Osborn, Leon Hall, Carton Milliman, Roy Miller, M. Earl Eastham and John
Eastham.
