Rev. Suits, 66, Succumbs at Vienna Home Retired Methodist Pastor Well Known In Area Parishes.

VIENNA -- The Rev. Walter J. Suits, 66, World War I veteran and a retired Methodist
minister who had served several area churches, died Friday at his home here. He had
been in failing health for the past two years.

Mr. Suits received his education at St. John's Military Academy, Manlius, Cazenovia
Seminary and Oswego Normal School. He enlisted in the Army Dec. 15, 1917, at Utica and
served with the 22nd Co., COTS. He was honorably discharged Nov. 18, 1918 at Camp Gordon, Ga.

From 1927 to 1935 he served as pastor of the Oswego Center Methodist Church and during a
part of 1935 was pastor of the Methodist Church at Sackett's Harbor.

From 1935 to 1939 he served as pastor of the Ava Methodist Church and the West Leyden
Reformed Church. He was then transferred to the Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church where he
served from 1939 to 1944. From 1944 to 1948, he served at Philadelphia, N.Y., Evans Mills
and Pamelia Methodist Churches, then went to Newport, Middleville, Fairfield and Gray
Methodist Church from 1948 to 1953.

Mr. Suits then served the Lowell and Verona Methodist Churches from 1953 to 1955 and the
following May retired due to failing health.

The son of Jeroma P. and Cora Klock Suits, he was born Dec. 27, 1890, at State Bridge.
On Feb. 26, 1922, at the home of the bride's sister, Mrs. H. J. Lonis, Maple Flats, he
married the former Clarrisa Armstrong in a ceremony performed by the Rev. George Wood.

Mr. Suits was a member of the Vienna Methodist Church, Newport Masonic Lodge, Royal
Arch Masons of Newport, Neport Chapter, OES, and Arthur S. Moran Post, American Legion,
Camden.

Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Mrs. Cora S. Balmat of Pass Christian,
Miss., Mrs. Wiley White of Port Gibson; one son, Albert L. of Vernon; two grandchildren;
one sister, Mrs. Glen H. Marsh of Brookville, Fla.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral will be at 1:30 Monday from his home in Vienna and at 2 from the Methodist
Church, with the Rev. Allan T. Dodge, district superintendent, in charge of arrangements.
Burial will be in McConnellsville Cemetery.
