We got Sable in May, 1994, from an animal hospital whose employee had found her abandoned there. She was 10 months old, and by the way she behaved, they said she probably had been abused. She spent the first 2 weeks under our bed, only coming out to eat and use the litter box. Little by little she warmed up to us, but never the other 3 cats. She always tried to get outside when a door was opened, and one day in October of the same year, she did escape. We live near some woods, and I couldn't find her. When Les got home from work, he went out to look for her. He found her and had his hands on her long enough for her to bite him...hard! She took off then, and we never saw her again. Les had to have surgery on his left pinky finger and have antibiotic fluid flushed through it every 6 hours for 5 days. Now his finger is permanently disfigured to where he can't straighten it out all the way.
