A few days after we brought Squeaker home, my husband, Les, went to get some flea shampoo. Little did I know that he was headed for this little hole in the wall pet store that we would visit while the clothes were washing at the laundromat(thank goodness I don't have to go there anymore!). Soon after he left, the phone rang. It was Les, and he said that a kitten we had seen there weeks before was still there, and could he bring it home? So that was how Squeaker got her first playmate. We named her Tori, short for tornado, because that's what she reminded us of as she raced around the house. Being just a month older than Squeaker, they bonded quickly.

Tori's favorite toy was a little stuffed snowman head from the Christmas decorations. As she got older, her personality became more that of a Southern Bell, so her name became Tori Bell. She was mostly Les' cat and would lay on or next to him all the time. She liked to lay with her back feet in his hand. In the summer of 1995, Tori became incurably ill. It was very hard to do, but the heartbreaking decision was made to put her to sleep.

Surprisingly, her greatest achievement came after she was gone. Tori was selected for the October 30 page of the Humane Society of the United States "1996 Year-in-a-Box Calendar". So perfect that the kitty we lost would be the one immortalized in print!
