Poems that we Applied in Al-Anon

We are gonna share some poems that we used in the earlier days of Al-Anon before they had all the Al-Anon books that they have to use today. Back then the only book that we had was the Big Book of A.A. Please take what you want and leave the rest as this is only my shareing with you the things that have kept me commited to and keep coming back many one days at a time.

God's Miricles

How can you say? "There is no God."

As down life's pathway we humbly trod

Look deep into the hearts of the lovely flowers,

The touch of a baby so tender and sweet,

The grass that grows beneath our feet,

The sun that shines, the moon that glows,

Gentle breeze and blustry wind that blows,

The stars that shine so bright at night

Look up! Isn't it a beautiful sight?

There is no God? Oh yes there just has to be;

For He has given all these things to you and me.

Being Kind

If I can do a little deed of kindness every day;

If I can bring a little cheer along life's weary way;

If I can speak a loving word of comfort to the sad,

Then life will be worth living by making someone glad

If I can say a little prayer for someone feeling blue;

If I can chase the clouds away and let the sunshine through;

If I can have a little faith like a grain of mustard seed,

Then life will be worth living by helping someone in need.

Life's Greatest Secret

Many times we grope in darkness, knowing not just what to do,

All our skys seem clouded over, not a rift where light shines thru;

Not by peering or by straining can we penetrate the gloom, our horizon does not brighten, it's as cheerless as a tomb.

The mistake that we are making, as a lot of folks have found,

Is that we become despondent, keeping eyes upon the ground,

So of course our range of vision, takes in nothing but the mud,

And we fail to see the rainbow, that ensures against a flood.

If we exercise the privilage, with which every man's endowed

We can see the silver lining; That's behind the darkest cloud;

It becomes to us a beacon, lightning up the darkest way;

changing shadows into sunshine, turning darkness into day.

Once we've learned life's greatest secret, that help cometh from the skies,

We will find that our misfortunes, are but blessings in disguise,

Many thorns we may encounter' in the path that we must trod,

Thorns can never pierce the armor of abiding faith---in GOD

God's Plan

"What made us friends in the long ago

When first we met? Well I think I know.

The best in me and the best in you

Hailed each other because they knew

That always and always since time began

Our being friends was part of God's plan."

How to get to Heaven

A man knocked at the havenly gate,

His face was scarred and old;

He stood before the Man of fate

For admission to the fold.

"What have you done," St. Peter asked,

"To gain admission here?"

"I have been an alcoholic, Sir

For many and many a year."

The pearly gates swung wide open,

St. Peter touched the bell-

"Come in and choose your harp," He said,

"You have had your share of he^^."

Thinking of You

This morning as I arose and saw the sun above,

"I softly said, "Good morning God, bless everyone I love."

and right away I thought of you and said a loving prayer, "That He would bless you specially and keep you free from care."

I thought of all the happiness your day could hold in store;

And wished it all for you, because no one deserves it more.

I felt so warm and good inside, my heart was all aglow- I know God heard my prayer for you, He hears them all you know.
