Hear a recorded Greeting from Mister Ed Himself!
...and I quote:
Sixth-graders get Denny's apology
Associated Press
BALTIMORE-Four years after settling a discrimination lawsuit for $46 million, Denny's apologized
Tuesday to 40 black sixth-graders and their chaperones who said they were denied service at a Florida
Restaurant.
The group from Baltimore was on a field trip to Disney World when they stopped Thursday at the Denny's
in Ocoee, Fla. They said they were not greeted or seated.
After seating themselves, they said they waited 20 minutes before some received
menus, and left an hour later without being served, while white customers who
entered later were helped.
"We apologize to the students and chaperones who did not feel welcome during their
visit," Denny's President John A. Romandetti said.
"It is clear that these customers do not believe they were treated with the courtesy and respect
that we pledge to every Denny's guest. For that we are sorry."
The complaint was reported by Denny's to the Office of the Civil Rights Monitor,
which reports to the Justice Department, Romandetti said.
Well...let's examine Mr. Romandetti's comments, shall we? "...that did not feel welcome
during their visit." No, I don't think they felt "welcome" at all. They might have
even felt, in a way, snubbed...perhaps even discriminated against because of the
size of the group. Yeah, that's it...not enough food on the shelf, and the folks there
were just too embarrassed to admit they couldn't feed them all.
"...these customers do not believe they were treated with the courtesy and respect that
we pledge to every Denny's guest." Unfortunately, Mr. Romandetti, they know for a FACT
that they were treated with the same "courtesy and respect" you pledge to every non-white
person who darkens your doors from coast to coast. Shame on all of you that a
"family" restaurant chain even had to create a position within your company like
Civil Rights Monitor.
For those of you who are as sick and tired of having to read AGAIN and AGAIN
about Denny's and their Jim Crow policies, I urge you to do as I have for the last
10 years and:

I looked over Ocoee, and what did I see, comin' for to carry me home?
