Jan and Ed met in 1985, when Ed turned in the video "Airplane" to the store
Jan managed in Pleasant Hill, CA. She seemed to appreciate his twisted sense
of humor, and told him so. He was slow to take the bait, waiting until the
next day to ask her for a date. She said "yes", and the romance was on!
We love to travel, and have taken the family through the Southwest, across
the country to Ohio, where Jan's Mom lives, to Charleston,SC, home of Ed's
parents, and to the Pacific Northwest, to see cousin Joe (see chart). In 2005 we travelled to Las Vegas to see Jessica graduated with her BA in Accounting and then later went to Maine by way of Boston for nephew Hank's wedding to Katie. Most
of these trips have been by car, and the kids have proven to be intrepid
travellers. We also like tossing the frisbee around, and going to concerts
and parks around the San Francisco Bay Area.
Ed graduated from
Staunton Military Academy in 1975, studied Music in college, and got into professional photofinishing in 1976.
Ed has his own business as a professional pet sitter and dog trainer. He loves meeting all the friendly critters and caring for them while their owners are traveling.For many years he worked nearly year-'round as a
baseball and softball umpire, from the Little League and high school level to Men's semi-pro baseball. He currently volunteers for Concord's Continental Little League as Chief Umpire. In '96 and '97 he has appeared at the local mall in the guise of Father Christmas. Music continues to keep him young, and he plays guitar at local open-mike pubs and with numerous musician friends.
Jan works as a paralegal for a local commercial real estate company. She plays piano and loves to hike and camp with the family around California. She is a darn good Frisbee-chick, and keeps Ed on his toes out in the field. She has worked as a freelance writer for Video Business magazine, and has published articles on effective management techniques in other trade journals.
