First General Baptist Church of Holts Summit Mo Church History

Church History

On 10/18/59 a few General Baptist families met in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ted France who were living on East High Street in Jefferson City, Missouri. The very first service started as a prayer service in the France home, then rotated between families. On 2/7/60 the little group organized and moved into their first building located at 124 E McCarty street. The church was located to Holts Summit in when its own building was finished in 1967.

The church was once located on a gravel road with only a few nearby houses, now it is in a growing city. Yet the church has maintained the county church atmosphere. The folks are friendly and sincere. The King James Bible is still taught, and the old hymn's are still sung. If one feels led to sing a special, there is always time, or share a vision, testimony, or just fellowship.

The folks are made up of people with all kinds of backgrounds such as, Pentecost, Methodist, Lutheran, Baptist, and others. It is not the name above the door that counts but the oneness of the heart with Christ.
