Maryland & ct_Caroline County the eighteenth day of the tenth month in the year of our Lord seventeen hundred and ninty two, In the name of God amen, I John Stafford of the county aforesaid being weak of body but of sound and dispering mind, memory and understanding: calling to mind the uncertainty of this tranistory life, do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following. Item, I will and bequest unto Sarah my wife during her natural life together with my dwelling houses where I now live all that part of my plantation and the lands adjoining the same from the Ross fence leading from the woods gate through through the same as it now goes until it hits the back line of a tract of land called Neighbors keep off. Item, I will and bequest unto Balaam Stafford and Nathaniel Stafford my two sons after the death of my said wife all the lands now folseford? by me to be equally divided equal share and share alike to them and their heirs forever, after they pay unto Mary my daughter the wife of Elijah Wootless the sum of five pounds then , I will and bequest that all the remaining part of my estate after the payment of my just debts be equally divided between my said wife and my two sons John Stafford and James Stafford them or their heirs or assigns and that there be no administration on my estate. Item, I will and bequest unto William Ross called long William all my right of a tract of land called binsons lot to him and to his heirs and assigns forever. Lastly I do hereby make null and void all former will or wills heretofore made by me, acknowledging and conforms this and no other to be my last will and testament-- In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year first above written signed, sealed, published pronounced. John Stafford [seal] and declared ny the said John Stafford to be his last will and testament in the presence of Allifore[her mark] Sullivane, Elijah[his mark] Williamson Caroline Canline to wit Seth Hill Evitts The 20th day of November 1792Then came Sarah Stafford who offered this will for probate and made othe on the Holy evangels of Almighty God that the aforegoing instrument of writing is the true and whole will and testament of John Stafford late of Caroline County deceased, that have come to her hands fefseforn? and that she doth not know of any other of a later date. The 20th November 1892 Then came Elijah Williamson of the subscribingwitness to the aforegoing last will and testament of John Stafford late of Caroline county deceased, and made oath on the Holy evangely of Almighty God that he did see the testator herein named sign and seal this will, and that he heard him publish prounounce and declare the same to be his last will and testament that at the time of his so doing, he was to the best of his apperhention of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, and that he subscribed his name as a witness to this will, in the presence and at the request of the testater and in the presence of each others, Allifore Sullivane and Seth Hill Evitts who he allso saw subscribe their hands as witness to this will in the presence and at the request of the testator. The 20th day of November 1792 Then came Seth Hill Evitts one of the subscribing witnesses to the aforsaid last will and testament of John Stafford late of Caroline County, deceased being one of the people called Necolitetes or Quakers, and did solemnly truly and severely declare and affirm, that he heard him publish probounce and declare the same to be his last will and testament that at the time of his so doing he was to the best of his this affirmatts apprehention of sound disposing mind, memory and understanding, and that he subscribed his name as a witness to this will in the presence and at the request of the testaters and in the presence od Allifore Sullivane and Elijah Williamson who he also saw subscribe their names as witness to this will in the presence and at the request of the testator. |
