JOHNNY: A total failure, that's what I am.
BUTCH: What in the world is going on?
JOHNNY: When Carl asked why I always go to church, it was a perfect chance to ell him I'm a Christian and that Jesus - not the church - saved me.
BUTCH: You didn't tell him when you had a chance?
JOHNNY: That's right. I wish I could talk about the Lord.
BUTCH: Do you remember last night when you heard someone talking in my room?
JOHNNY: Yes, and it turned out to be you.
BUTCH: Do you remember what I told you?
JOHNNY: You said you were practicing for speech class.
BUTCH: Do you remember when I first stated my speech class?
JOHNNY: You said you hated it.
BUTCH: That's right, I hated it. I never knew how to say what I really wanted to say and I was scared silly to get up in front of class anyway.
JOHNNY: You sure were scared, I know that.
BUTCH: But you know what?
JOHNNY: What, Butch?
BUTCH: I kind of like it now.
JOHNNY: You're not scared anymore?
BUTCH: Yeah, but not quite so bad, thanks to my teacher. And I'm getting better.
JOHNNY: How did your teacher help you?
BUTCH: He said you have to practice in order to sing or to play a musical instrument well, and you also have to practice to become a good speaker. He told us to practice, practice and practice and I do and I'm getting better.
JOHNNY: Do you think it will help me?
BUTCH: Well, I may never be a great speaker but at least I'm improving.
JOHNNY: If I stand in front of the mirror and keep saying things like "I'm a Christian, and you can be one too" "The Bible says..." Do you think that would help?
BUTCH: Yes it will. How about you boys and girls. Are you afraid to speak up for the Lord? Practice. It may seem funny at first, but try it. Then speak up for the Lord whenever you have a chance. Bye boys and girls.
JOHNNY: See you guys.
