PUPPET SCRIPT

By Louise Ferry

"SIDETRACKED"
Psalm 16
PUPPETS: Mom & Chris

CHRIS: Boy that was really frustrating yesterday.

MOM: What are you talking about, Chris?

CHRIS: Oh, that train out on Taylor Road.

MOM: You mean the one that was crossing the road when we were going to Walmart?

CHRIS: Yes, that one. There I was just picturing myself in my new gym shoes when I heard that clanging noise and looked up and there was a train.

    MOM: Yea, I remember.

CHRIS: It was not so bad that it was going by but then it began to slow down and then stop. Why would a train stop way out there?

MOM: They probably were sidetracking some cars at the grain elevator.

CHRIS: Sidetracking? What does that mean?

MOM: Well, they unfasten some of the cars from the middle of the train, and pull them off onto a side track

CHRIS: Why would they sidetrack them, anyway?

MOM: Chris, this is harvest time. And the farmers are bringing grain in and it has to be shipped out.

CHRIS: And they use train cars to ship?

MOM: That's right. Somewhere there is the opposite going on as the cars arrive at their distination and are unloaded.

CHRIS: You mean some where they hold up people as they sidetrack those cars.

    MOM: Yes, that is possible.

CHRIS: That's a big inconvenience having to wait.

MOM: Don't you remember last week in Sunday School when your teacher was discussing the lesson? Didn't he say something about Christians being sidetracked.

CHRIS: You mean that the time we loss being stopped by a train being sidetracked has something to do with a Christian.

MOM: Yes, Chris, Sometimes the love of money will sidetrack a Christian from wanting to do God's will. Sometimes it's a desire for fame or pleasure. Whatever keeps us from doing what the Lord wants us to do is wrong.

CHRIS: You mean like I wanted you to take me shopping last week instead of going with my Sunday School class to pass out tracts. Could I be allowing myself to be sidetracked. I'm going to pray that the Lord won't let me be sidetracked.

MOM: How about you, boys and girls. Are you putting God first in your lives or are you being sidetracked. Don't let anything sidetrack you from your goal. See you later.

    CHRIS: Bye, boys and girls.
