CHRIS: Well, I guess you have been following some of the news recently, Grandma?
G-MA: Lordy, child, who hasn't. All that politicing is enough to make one sick.
CHRIS: I don't know about you, but I'm confused.
G-MA: Me too. In our country we take leadership seriously, that's one reason why we have been
trying to make sure that our president is chosen correctly.
CHRIS: Yes, having the right leaders is important.
G-MA: right, our president and other leaders are important.
CHRIS: In school I found out that they make important decisions about our country, to keep us safe,
to make sure that all people are treated fairly, and that the laws are followed.
G-MA: Our president, for example, is head over all our armies. So he would be the one to call our
armies together to make sure we are protected. He also seeks to make new laws and programs that he thinks will make our country better.
CHRIS: I noticed that the scriptures for today talk about leaders and how important they are.
G-MA: King David says that a leader is given by God to serve, toi love God and to do what is right
and fair for all people.
CHRIS: Good leaders help make it better for everyone.
G-MA: In the Gospel of John we read about Jesus, who is the greatest leader of all. In fact, today
is Christ the King Sunday. That means that for us, Christ is King.
CHRIS: He is our supreme leader. He is the one we follow, we obe;y, we serve more than anyone
else.
G-MA: We do have other leaders, like our president, the people who represent us in Congress, and
like our local leaders.
CHRIS: It is important that they know we respect them and support them. And, it is also important
that they see themselves as servants, as working to do what is right and fair for all people.
G-MA: One of the ways we can help them is to pray for them. That is what Psalm 132 is, a prayer
for the king.
CHRIS: We can also pray for our leaders, that God will bless them, guide them, so they will make
the right decisions.
G-MA: That's right, Chris, we need to pray for our leaders. Bye boys and girls.
CHRIS: See you later. Bye now.
