PUPPET SCRIPT

By Louise Ferry

"NOT HOPELESS"
Philippians 1:3-11
PUPPETS: Mom & Sally

MOM: Sally, what did you mean yesterday when you said that you wished you had a friend who was a real good Christian? Isn't Chris a Christian?

SALLY: Yeah, but I'm beginning to think she's hopeless.

MOM: Why do you think she is hopeless?

SALLY: She always wants her own way, and she says mean things about other kids.

MOM: That's too bad. Do you remember yesterday when we were making Jello?

    SALLY: Yes

MOM: Remember you stirred the Jello into boiling water, added some ice cubes and put it in the refrigerator to set?

    SALLY: Yes, I remember that.

MOM: Remember you went to the refrigerator to check it after a while and said it was time to add fruit?

SALLY: That's right and I added apples and bananas.

MOM: Tell me something. Has Chris improved at all since she became a Christian?

SALLY: Oh, sure. But not enough. She used to be just awful. Nobody liked her. Now she's not so bad, but she still has a long way to go.

    MOM: Like the Jello?

SALLY: The Jello. What do you mean?

MOM: The Jello had improved since you first put it in the refrigerator but it still had a long way to go also.

SALLY: What has that to do with Chris?

MOM: In time the Jello was set and ready to eat. It reminds me of Christians. They don't usually 'set' all at once. It takes time. As they grow in the Lord, they improve in outward behavior. We need to be patient with them.

SALLY: Maybe we can add some 'fruit' to help them. We can pray for them, and we can be friendly.

MOM: Good, and let's remember that you and I aren't finished yet, either

SALLY: Yes, I know I'm not done yet.

MOM: How about you boys and girls. Do you know Christians who need a lot of improvement? Are you praying for them? Are you helping them by being friendly? Do you set a good example for them? God finishes what He starts. He'll finish what He has begun in them and in you. Buy everyone.

SALLY: That is something to think about. Bye boys and girls.
