PUPPET SCRIPT

By Louise Ferry

"BAD EGGS"
Philippians 4:4-7
PUPPETS: Butch and Dad

BUTCH: Dad, you know sometimes I wonder if I'm really a Christian.

DAD: Butch, what would make you think that?

    BUTCH: Lately I . . . . well, sometimes I have thoughts---bad thoughts ---- that I know a real Christian shouldn't have.

DAD: Do you remember last spring when we found that bird's nest outback?

BUTCH: You mean the one in the evergreen tree?

    DAD: Yes, that's the one.

BUTCH: What about that bird's nest?

DAD: Wasn't there something different about the eggs?

BUTCH: Come to think about it there was.

    DAD: What was different, Butch?

BUTCH: One of the eggs was larger then the others.

DAD: That's right. That bigger egg was a cowbird egg.

BUTCH: Why was it in that nest?

DAD: Cowbirds lay their eggs in another bird's nest. When the chicks hatch the Cowbird's offspring is larger then the other chicks and hogs the food and even kicks the other chicks out of the nest.

BUTCH: What a mean trick. Too bad the other bird can't tell that the big egg isn't her own. Then she could push it out before it hatches.

DAD: That's right. Satan is like that cowbird. He likes to put things into our minds that don't belong to us. We need to trust God to help us think and do the right things. We need to reject Satan's thoughts and push them out.

BUTCH: I'll watch out for thoughts like that. I'll ask God to help me push them out of my mind.

DAD: How about you boys and girls? Do you sometimes have thoughts that make you doubt God, or that make you feel like doing something you shouldn't. Don't dwell on these thoughts. Reject them in Jesus' name.

BUTCH: Yes, and it is easier to do when you read the Bible regularly. Replace bad thoughts with good thoughts. See all of you later. Bye.

    DAD: Bye boys and girls.
