G-MA: Edithann, what is the matter with you girl. You seem to be dreaming away.
E-ANN: Well, Grandma, I was dreaming or thinking if you will.
G-MA: What in tarnation are you thinking about that takes you so far away?
E-ANN: I was thinking about last Christmas.
G-MA: What is so different about last Christmas?
E-ANN: You remember, Cheyenne was just two years old.
G-MA: Yes, I do remember and she was so cute.
E-ANN: There I was with Butch just waiting for Christmas morning and seeing her unwrap the present that Butch and I had got for her.
G-MA: I remember you got her a baby doll. What about it?
E-ANN: It was Christmas morning, Cheyenne was excited, I was excited and Butch was excited. Cheyenne just held the package because she didn't know how to unwrap it.
G-MA: Now I remember and your dad told you to show her how.
E-ANN: That's right. So I took off the bow and Butch helped her tear the wrapping paper.
G-MA: That was nice of you two.
E-ANN: But what happened was so nice. Cheyenne held the doll for about 3 seconds and threw it away and started playing with the ribbon and wrapping paper. We gave her a real gift, and she ignores it. She'd rather play with the wrappings than the doll.
G-MA: You mean the bright wrapping distracted her? I wonder if God doesn't fell just as disappointed in us at Christmas time?
E-ANN: Why?
G-MA: God sent Jesus to save us from our sins. He's the real gift of Christmas, but too many people ignore Him altogether. They get distracted by the trimmings of Christmas -- the presents, lights, gifts, trees and carols -- and they ignore the Savior completely
E-ANN: What does Christmas mean to you boys and girls? Do you worship Christ at Christmas time, or do you get caught up in the trimmings?
G-MA: Christ is the perfect gift. He gives meaning to life. Bye boys and girls and Merry Christmas.
E-ANN: Merry Christmas and see you later.
