MOM: Chris, what did you think you were doing?
CHRIS: I don't know.
MOM: What do you mean, you don't know. That isn't any kind of answer.
CHRIS: I didn't mean it.
MOM: Tell me what you didn't mean.
CHRIS: You know Jamie was teasing me about not smoking a cigarette. She laid a cigarette and a match on the picnic table and said I could try it when no one was watching.
MOM: I am disappointed in you, Chris.
CHRIS: I know. But Jamie teased and tempted me until I gave in.
MOM: No, Honey, Jamie's teasing isn't why you gave in.
CHRIS: What do you mean, Mom?
MOM: You gave in because you didn't run from temptation.
CHRIS: I don't understand.
MOM: You looked at the cigarette, maybe even took it in your fingers to see how it would feel.
CHRIS: Were you looking or something?
MOM: No, I just know what happens. After you see how it feels, you finally give in and smoke it. If you would have turned and left, the temptation would not have overtaken you.
CHRIS: Really?
MOM: That's right. Temptations will always come. When they do, run away from them.
CHRIS: That sounds like very good advice.
MOM: How about you boys and girls? Do your friends sometimes coax you to go along with something you know is wrong.
CHRIS: You mean like adult movies, smoking, looking at dirty pictures?
MOM: That's right Chris. When you are tempted by these or other sins, don't stand around and think about them. Turn and run. Ask Jesus to help you. He will. See you later. Bye for now.
CHRIS: Thanks, mom. Bye everybody.
