MOM: Sally, I want you to know that I am very proud of you.
SALLY: Hey, what?
MOM: I'm very proud of you.
SALLY: I thought my ears were fooling me. What do you mean you are proud of me.
MOM: Exactly what it says. I'm proud of you.
SALLY: For what?
MOM: I know you have been struggling with your younger sister, Chris. I know what a strain on you it is to always being asked to share.
SALLY: You mean like last Christmas when I got the Chemistry Set and it was for children 8 years old or older and Dad said I should share with Chris, even though she was not playing with her own toys? Is that what you mean?
MOM: Yes. And the time you were watching the television and Chris wanted to watch something else and Dad asked you to give in to what Chris wanted.
SALLY: So I went off to play and just a few minutes later Chris came knocking at my door wanting in and Dad said to let her in and play with her. I gave up my favorite program so Chris could watch what she wanted and then didn't stick to it.
MOM: I know. I saw you cry when this was happening because you were hurt.
SALLY: Everybody said I should share my things and time with my younger sister.
MOM: I remember you asking for some mashed potatoes at supper and Dad said you should share them, not realizing there were only a couple of spoons full left.
SALLY: Yes, I gave Chris what was left. Chris plays more with my tools than I do and I have to let her even though she messes everything up.
MOM: That is the reason I am so proud of you and I know God is proud of you too.
SALLY: God proud of me? How can that be.
MOM: God is proud because you have put the Golden Rule into action many times.
SALLY: You mean when I shared with Chris I was practicing the Golden Rule and God is proud of me for that.
MOM: I believe you have got it down now. How about you, boys and girls, do you practice the Golden Rule. Do you treat otheers they way you would like to be treated even if it doesn't seem fair to you.
SALLY: Yes, boys and girls, Jesus gave us this rule, honor Him by obeying it. See you later boys and girls.
MOM: Bye now.
