PUPPET SCRIPT

"MEMBER OF THE BAND"
Galatians 5:1, 13-25
PUPPETS: Mom & Butch

MOM: Butch, how's your band music coming along?

BUTCH: Well, if Sally's reaction is any indication, not too well.

    MOM: What's wrong with Sally?

BUTCH: The last time I practiced she put her hands over her ears and said she was tired of hearing it. Quite frankly, I'm tired of hearing it too. I don't think I'll practice anymore for first chair.

    MOM: Why?

BUTCH: It's too hard. I don't feel like practicing anymore.

MOM: Well, there's nothing wrong with not being first chair, but there is something wrong with not practicing.

    BUTCH: Are you sure?

MOM: No matter what chair you have, you need to do the best you can, and that takes practice.

BUTCH: Sally said she was glad she didn't have to practice.

    MOM: But she does.

BUTCH: But she said she doesn't because she is not in the band.

MOM: Oh, but she is. She is in a band of Christians, called the church. Haven't you become a part of that band, Butch?

    BUTCH: Yes.

MOM: Well, then there are things you and Sally need to practice as a member of God's church.

BUTCH: What would that be, Mom?

MOM: In His Word, the Bible, He tells us of many characteristics we should have. He describes the kind of people we should be, and He teaches us the kind of things we should do.

BUTCH: That sounds kind of hard.

MOM: Sometimes we do get tired of doing the things we should, just like you got tired of practicing. But we are told not to be weary in well doing. We need to keep practicing.

BUTCH: How about you boys and girls? Were you once excited about being a Christian and learning to be like Jesus?

MOM: Boys and girls, are you faithfully practicing the things God teaches. God wants you to keep on.

BUTCH: Do as He says. See you later. Bye, Mom.

    MOM: Bye boys and girls.
