SALLY: Mom, I don't feel good.
MOM: Just like the other day?
SALLY: Yes.
MOM: Well, you didn't have a fever than and you probably don't have one now. It's Sunday, so there is no school to stay home from. Do you remember what we did when you stayed home the other day.
SALLY: Yes, we made cookies and I made a mess when I broke an egg and it ran down the front of me. I was sure glad I had on a big apron.
MOM: You were sure fortunate to have done that. Now tell me, were you really sick, or were you nervous about going to a new school?
SALLY: Mom, I wish we had never moved. I feel so strange in this new school and I don't have any friends. I don't know anybody.
MOM: It will get better. It is sure a good thing you had the protection of that apron as we made cookies. But are you aware that you also have protection as you go to school?
SALLY: Yes, I have my boots on and a rain coat in case it rains.
MOM: No, no. Nothing like that.
SALLY: Well, I have crossing guards at the corners and hall monitors in school.
MOM: No, not that either.
SALLY: Our school has a tornado warning system and a procedure for storms. That's a lot of protection.
MOM: No, that's good but it is not it.
SALLY: Well, don't keep me in suspense, what is it?
MOM: You're a Christian, a child of God, and He is your protection.
SALLY: Now I know where you are going.
MOM: To heaven when this life is over, but until then.... The Book of Psalms says, "He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust." God will take care of you, even in a new school and among many new faces.
SALLY: I see. Wow, that is neat.
MOM: Remember, He is with you always.
SALLY: Two of my classmates, Ann & Barb were really friendly yesterday, I think I will take them some cookies tomorrow. It shouldn't be so bad if I just remember I'm well-protected.
MOM: How about you boys and girls. What are you afraid of? A new school, a difficult class, a school bully, the dark? If you are a Christian, God is your protection whatever situation you face. see you boys and girls.
SALLY: Bye everyone.
