GRANDMA: (Grandma stays down but is singing) "Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus; just to take Him at His Word"
JOHNNY: (Johnny appears and is yawning) Ohhh, what is it that I'm hearing?
GRANDMA: (grandma still down) "Just to rest upon His promise"
JOHNNY: Hey, boys and girls. You know who that is? That's Grandma. She always sings in the morning.
GRANDMA: (grandma still down) "Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him"
JOHNNY: But, how could she sing this morning? After yesterday? (Johnny sniffles like holding back from crying)
GRANDMA: (grandma appears) Morning, Johnny. You look nice this morning.
JOHNNY: Thanks, Grandma. Grannie, how can you sing this morning?
GRANDMA: Honey, a long time ago I learned to sing when I'm sad and when I'm glad. Your grandfather loved to hear me sing.
JOHNNY: But Grandpa died. We had his funeral yesterday.
GRANDMA: I know and I also know he wouldn't want me to stop singing now.
JOHNNY: Neither do I.
GRANDMA: Singing is good for you, Johnny. I read that it clears your lungs and helps your circulation. The article said singing sometimes prevents headaches by speeding blood to the brain, and that aids your digestive system and prevents ulcers.
JOHNNY: All that?
GRANDMA: Yes. And besides all that, it will ease your heartaches. Singing is spiritual exercise. We jog to keep our body in shape. We sing for spiritual fitness.
JOHNNY: Wow. That's good. Bye boys and girls (Johnny goes down)
GRANDMA: See you later.
JOHNNY: (From behind curtain) "When we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be..." By golly, that does make me feel better. It does help.
