SALLY: Mom, what were you looking at in the store last night?
MOM: I was looking at a "New and Improved" laundry detergent.
SALLY: Oh, I heard about it on TV the other day. It is supposed to be better than ever before-- removes the most difficult stains, according to the 'satisfied customer' on the commercial. If you can believe everything you hear, it has never been known to fail.
MOM: Now if I had a real item to test it on.
SALLY: Oh, could we try it on my yellow dress? Please? It's got that spot on the sleeve. I try to turn it to the inside a little so it won't show so much, but it doesn't stay in place very well. Maybe this stuff would take it out.
MOM: Well, it's a lot more expensive than the kind I usually use, but I guess you can try it if you want to. Don't get your hopes up too much, though.
SALLY: Mom, I must confess I already tried it.
MOM: You did?
SALLY: Yes, I did it over at Chris' house on my pullover.
MOM: Well, how did it work?
SALLY: I couldn't believe it. They can send men to the moon, but they can't find a way to get out a spot.
MOM: That's true. This reminds me of another area where everyone's best efforts fail.
SALLY: Where's that, Mom?
MOM: Everybody is born a sinner. It's as though the stain of sin is on a person's garment of life.
SALLY: Yes, we talked about that in Sunday School. It was Romans 3:23.
MOM: People often try to hide it by being good, and sometimes they can even keep it out of the sight of others. But it's still there. Nothing man can do will remove it.
SALLY: But I know something that can get it out and it is not 'new and improved'.
MOM: That's right, Sally. It is the blood of Jesus Christ our Lord.
SALLY: And we don't have to pay anything for it. Jesus paid it all.
MOM: And God offers it freely to all who will admit their need and accept Jesus as Savior.
SALLY: It is the only thing that can cleanse a person's soul. See you later, Mom.
MOM: Bye, Sally, bye boys and girls.
