PUPPET SCRIPT

"THE RIGHT TRACK"
John 14:1-14
PUPPETS: Dad & Butch

BUTCH: Dad, could you tell me the story about the train again?

DAD: But, Butch, I have told you that story many times, why do you want to hear it again?

BUTCH: It is such a neat story I don't get tired of hearing it.

DAD: Okay, if you insist. It was a long time ago when your brother, Tom, was just a boy. In other words, it was before you.

BUTCH: Before me, that was a long time ago. Go on.

DAD: Passenger trains had not stopped in Garrett for years, but on this special day there was going to be a train with free rides for anyone.

    BUTCH: Wow. Free rides.

DAD: Well, Tom and I climbed on board one of the passenger cars. We waited and waited but it didn't seem to be ready to move.

    BUTCH: Didn't Tom get upset?

DAD: Yes, he wanted to know why we weren't moving and I told him they were probably waiting for more people to come, even though our car was pretty full then and it was getting hot.

BUTCH: I can imagine that it was real hot with no air conditioning.

DAD: We were getting discouraged when a man dressed as a conductor came into the car. He said, "Guess you folks didn't read the sign, this car is not going anywhere. It is on the second track and not hooked to the train. He said the train with the cars would be back soon.

BUTCH: Bet that's when you got off the train.

DAD: Yes, we did get off. I told Tom that we had good intentions of taking a ride but good intentions didn't get us there.

BUTCH: Sounds like a good sermon topic.

DAD: That's what Tom thought too. I told him he was right. Some people think they're headed for heaven just because they attend church. But being in a church doesn't necessarily mean you're in Christ.

BUTCH: I guess they need to get hooked to the Engine. If you haven't come to Christ, and confessed your sin and asked Him to be your Savior, you're not on the right track.

DAD: We had our ride that day when the train got back, that time we checked to make sure the car was hooked to the train. See you later Butch.

BUTCH: Thanks dad for the story. Bye boys and girls.
