Declaration for an Original Pension
State of Kentucky,
County of Johnson

On this 28th day of June 1882 personally appeared before me, Clerk of the Circuit Court, a Court of Record within and for the county and State aforesaid; Isaac Goble aged 51 years, who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is the identical Isaac Goble who was enrolled on the 6th day of September, 1862, in Company A of the 39th regiment of Kentucky commanded by Captain John B. Auxier and was honorably discharged at Louisville, Kentucky on the 15th day of September 1865. That his personal description is as follows: age 51 years; height 5 feet 8 inches; complexion fair; hair, dark; eyes, black.

That while a member of the organization aforesaid, in the service and in the line of his duty at Floyd County in the State of Kentucky on or about the 4th day of December 1862, he was in the battle of Wireman's Shoals, was captured by the enemy and marched on foot to a rail road in Virginia, about 150 miles thence to Richmond Virginia. On the foot march he was greatly exposed being compelled to wade streams, lie in open rail pens at night and then placed in a prison without fire and retained to May 1863. This exposure produced rheumatism affecting his joints. That on a winter campaign in East Tennessee about 12 December 1864 this rheumatism became so bad that he was unable for duty.

That he was treated in an officer's hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee from the 15th of December 1864 for about 30 days.
