Email from Robin Forrest:
Copy of letter from Frank Lewis to Leslie Conderman dated November 22, 1928. Frank Lewis was at Crozer Seminary,
Chester, Pa. Information came from an old family bible.
For so I am taking the liberty to address you in view of your very cordial letter with which you have given so much of the
history of your family.
It is a pleasure also to give in outline your Carrington ancestry, and with it also the ancestral line of Mrs. Lewis, which is the
same as yours for part of the generations. The lines, from the immigrants, John and his wife Joanne, who were born about 1615
and came to Hartford, Conn., among the pioneers there about 1638, are as follows:
Thus you are the ninth generation in American, while my wife, Lena Garrett, though born in 1868, is the eighth generation, some
of her ancestors having been born when their parents were farther along in years.
I am fortunate in having through Mrs. Dee Kilbury the full name of your mother as Besty Maria Bullock and her birth date as
Nov. 18, 1842, both of which you may like to have.
I wonder if in any way you could get for me your father’s middle name so as to complete the R? This would be a real
satisfaction. Perhaps you can also secure for me the date when your father was born with the place, and the date of his death,
also the place where he and your mother were married.
I shall write to your niece Mrs. Hunt, as you suggest.
It may be that you can make a guess, if you cannot say certainly as to what names the middle name initials M, I and B stand for
in the names of your sisters and brother who died in infancy or childhood. It will be a distinct satisfaction if those may be
secured for the history.
It is quite probable that some or all of your children are married. If so, I should like to send a blank for each of the married to
fill out. I would send to you, or direct to each, if you will write me which to do, giving the addresses, if I am to write to each
direct.
The evening of the 23d is here before I have found chance to finish this letter and start it on its way.
I shall be eager to have another letter as soon as you may write, and with any further material, or any further questions you may
wish to send.
Heartily your cousin,
Frank G. Lewis

Comments: Barbara: I very much enjoyed your site. I'm just getting into the geneolgy thing and was so happy to learn so
much from just one site. I'm descended from John Carrington's line branching from John's son Abraham Carrington and
wife Rebecca Johnson ---> Abraham's son David Carrington and wife Thankful Tolles ---> David's son Daniel Carrington
and wife Rachel A. Dorman ---> Daniel's son Abram E. Carrington and wife Mary J. Patterson ---> Abram's son Hiram
D. Carrington and wife Anna Voland --->Hiram's son Franklyn H. Carrington and wife Ann Sherwinsky [my
grandparents]. I discovered a number of articles regarding John and Joane Carrington [parents of Dr. Peter] in the
Connecticut State Library this past January - mostly witchraft and indian bartering references. However, I was unable to
determine a date for their arrival from Europe. Any leads? Thanks again for all the info on your site.
